Historically … The MSSC Medical Careers Loan Fund originally began in the early 1960s as a fund for children of MSSC members whose parents had passed away and who needed assistance with paying for college. In the late 1960s after only one individual needed assistance from the fund, it was retooled as a student loan fund for medical school students from Wichita who needed financial assistance.
Assistance … MCLF loans are granted for tuition, books, fees, and related expenses and all funds are paid directly to the Registrar of the involved school. The amount to be loaned annually is determined by the Fund’s committee, based on the applicant’s financial needs, but will not exceed $6,000 per school year ($3,000 per semester). Repayment begins following completion of residency training. MCLF Policies and Procedures
