The MSSC extends its condolences to the family of Dr. James C. Mershon, MD.
Cardiologist James C. Mershon, MD, died March 19 at age 81. Dr. Mershon completed medical school at the University of Iowa in 1963. After serving two years in the Army, Dr. Mershon and his family moved to Wichita in 1970 where he practiced medicine for more than 30 years. One of the founders of the Mid-States Companies, Dr. Mershon helped introduce the use of a mobile echocardiography unit in the Kansas region. He is considered a Wichita pioneer in pediatric cardiology and coronary artery angioplasty. Dr. Mershon is survived by his wife, Beverly, three children, and seven grandchildren.
